The JSM3 Congress “Exploring Microbial Worlds”

from 10 to 12 May 2023

The members of the Junior Scientists Microbiology Meeting of Marseille (JSM3) welcome you to the 7th edition of the JSM3 Congress which will be held in the CNRS campus in Marseille (31 Chemin Joseph Aiguier, 13009) from 10 to 12 May 2023.

This year’s JSM3 allows the unique interaction between all IM2B laboratories under the theme “Exploring Microbial Worlds”.

We are pleased to announce our three international keynotes speakers :

  • Martin LOOSE (Institute of Science and Technology Austria) : self-organization of protein systems.
  • Kimberly KLINE (Department of Microbiology and Molecular Medicine Faculty of Medicine / CMU University of Geneva) : Bacterial virulence factors that contribute to colonization, biofilm formation and infection by E. faecalis and related pathogens.
  • Matthias FISCHER (Max Planck Institute for Medical Research): Viruses of Protists

The participation is open and free of charge for all IM2B members, students and associates. Please register by passing through our website: The completion of the registration form takes less than 5 min and will be closed on the 14th of April.

If you are a PhD student, postdoc or non-permanent engineers and you want to present your work, the call for abstract for a talk or a poster is open until the 14th of April. Master students are also encouraged to present a poster.

Who we are?

The JSM3 gathers young scientists who belong to the Institute of Microbiology, Bioenergetics and Biotechnology (IM2B) coordinated by the University of Aix Marseille. Since 2015, we have organized a scientific conference on the CNRS campus in Marseille. Last year this conference gathered more than 250 students, postdocs and permanent researchers due to its recent expansion with the IM2B. Consequently, a wide range of research topics will be presented ranging from environmental aspects to molecular mechanisms, passing through multi-omics, cell biology and biophysics.
